Short notice once again, these are crazy times, and everyone we know is just in and out of town. Someone who is here, and much to our delight, will join us on MONDAY, October 17th, at Performer Stammtisch at Flutgraben e.V., Am Flutgraben 3, 12435 Berlin (U Schlesisches Tor/ S Treptower Park), is EZRAMO, aka Alessandra Eramo, who will present live performance and video work from her current project POETOPHONIE. Doors open 19.30 h, performance begins around 10.00 h. Aber ACHTUNG: We are in the 1st floor space this time: Just follow the signs: Go up one flight of stairs, across the outside galerie, and into the great hall of the artsy people.

„There. Where sounds and words become part of a collective work“

POETOPHONIE investigates the relationship between concrète sounds and poetry, revealing the interaction between people, sounds, real and imaginary places.

The starting point of this video-project is a composition of voices and field recordings that I made in Germany and in Italy on trains, in crowded streets, parks, desolate squares, bars and hospitals. Sounds, that belong to a “vanishing” present.

I find the sonic and poetical material in the reality that surrounds me. It's just this reality that becomes completely sharable, when I decide to provide to my audience an imaginary space where to interact: during the period of three days, the audience was welcomed on purpose one-by-one in my studio in Berlin; every visitor was invited to listen to an excerpt of 4 minutes from my composition. At the same time he received an incomplete sentence taken from the poetry I wrote inspired by my composition. Soon after listening, the visitor was invited to complete the poetry's fragment, and then read it aloud in front of the video camera. The visitor's voices and faces were filmed and recorded, giving life to a real collective work. The result is a 12:21 minutes video, where the audience became actor, „completing“ the sound work with its own voice and face, generating a new and very authentic poetical texture.
